CHICAGO — The Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field will have temporary tenants on Jan. 3 and 4, 2025.
The Big Ten hockey teams of Notre Dame and Penn State will face off on Jan. 3 as part of a series that is being called “The Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series.”
All told, four college hockey games will be played on an ice rink being set up in historic Wrigley Field for the Dec. 31 NHL Winter Classic game between the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues. Wrigley Field also hosted the 2009 Winter Classic.
Ohio State and Michigan also are scheduled for a game in the Chicago Cubs' stadium on the 3rd.
On Jan. 4, the Wisconsin and Michigan men's hockey team will play as will the Ohio State and Wisconsin women's teams. Wisconsin plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
While the order of games is pending, start times are set for 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 3 and 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET on Jan. 4.
The Big Ten Network will televise all four games.
